By Carabella Dental

In recent times, Invisalign® aligners have become very popular, particularly for straightening teeth. These aligners are well-known for providing a seamless and natural look.

One of the major aspects of these aligners is their storage. Storing them properly is essential for maintaining their effectiveness.

Do you know how to do that?

Let’s explore the do’s and don’ts of storing Invisalign® aligners.

Do’s for Storing Invisalign® Aligners

  1. Always Use the Case

Your dentist will provide you with a particular case for storing the aligners. This case is specially prepared to keep the aligners safe from dirt, bacteria, and accidental damage.

If you keep them in the case, chances of misplacing or losing them are also reduced.

  1. Always Clean Before Storing

Always remember to clean the Invisalign® aligners with lukewarm water before you store them in the case.

This will help in removing any food particles and preventing bad odors. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean the aligners.

  1. Regularly Clean the Case

A clean storage case ensures clean Invisalign® Alexandria.

Clean your aligner’s case with soap and water every week. Dry the case completely before using it, to avoid unnecessary moisture buildup.

  1. Mark The Case

With a marker or by any other means, put your name and contact details on the case. In case you lose it somewhere, there will be chances of getting it back.

Don’ts of Storing Invisalign® Aligners

  1. Do Not Wrap in Tissue

You should never wrap the aligners in tissue paper. This will make them prone to breakage and dust and germs will also easily gather on it. This is why dentists suggest a particular case for storing the aligners.

  1. Never Use Hot Water

Washing the aligners with hot water is not a good idea. Hot water can potentially ruin their shape.

So, it is better to use lukewarm or cool water for this.

  1. Do Not Leave Them Exposed

Leaving the Invisalign® aligners out in the open means exposing them to germs and bacteria. So, avoid placing them over counters, tables or in bags without the case.

  1. Do Not Store in Pocket

You may think storing the aligners in your pocket for just a short time will not do major damage to them. But you are wrong.

Storing them in the pocket means risking bending or breaking the aligners. They can also collect lint from your pocket.

  1. Avoid Heat

Heat and Invisalign® aligners never go along.

Heating can distort the aligners and affect their effectiveness. So, it is better to keep them away from heat, direct sunlight and even ovens.

Additional Tips for Aligners Care
